Open your eyes, Small one: Explanation

Open your eyes, Small one!

These words passed, unasked for, through my mind one night, as I glanced at one of my friends. This has more meaning than just the fact that I like short people though.

Suppose you met someone who had worked hard for three years to earn the money to buy her own home. Now at last, she has enough money to buy her dream house, the one she has always wanted, and her house is standing right before her. She sighs. "I really wish I could own that house." She says.

What the...?

Yet most of my Christian friends are just exactly like this!!

Someone once asked me why God doesn't approve of premarital sex. Another Christian I like a lot had no problem admitting he is rather fond of pornography, and sees nothing wrong with its use. Well, we may seem so worldly, but what in the world does the world find so awesome about sex?

They answer: sex is love.

Bull. Rape is sex, but rape is not love. Rape is hate.

"Ahh, but we're talking about consenting sex. Sex that doesn't hurt anyone."

Doesn't hurt anyone? Where'd you get that funny notion. Look at the people around you! They are hurting! Besides the minor facts of STDs and emotional problems created by non-monagamous sex, it does not satisfy. It doesn't give people what they want. It doesn't get them love.

And the funny thing is, we who are Christ's are supposed to be unassailable in the love department. Jesus commanded that we love one another. He said that all the rules and regulations of God would be automatically followed if we loved God and each other. He told us to love our enemies. God compared his people with a cheating wife that he will nevertheless take back because He loves her.

And yet, most people who accept Jesus accept him not to love and be loved, but as afterlife insurance, or as a good reason to feel better than everyone else. It's called Holier-Than-Thou. But it's a load of bull. Christianity is focused on God's love for us, so much that He was willing to die. Love is what it's all about.

People long for genuine love. So do Christians. But we should have it! And if we did, no-one would be able to stand in our face, for love is stronger than sex, stronger than money, stronger than tolerance, stronger than every cheap substitute the world has known just as wine is stronger than diluted grape juice. Real love is unconditional, powerful, intoxicating, and unbeatable.

Zot.
